Food Allergy How Long to Clear Out?

Hello, I have been having acid reflux/Gerd for the last nine months or so (tightness/pain in chest, trouble swallowing, bad digestion, etc.) and I developed eosinophilic esophagitis, with the count going about 100 (i was able to get it back down to around 20 eosinophils through dietary changes and also a dose of nexium, though i refuse to take it daily and have been off PPIs for a while - instead been taking enzymes and probiotics and watching my diet, though it's up and down. I was also getting hives around my left eye.

To make a long story short, I noticed I had bad chest pain when eating rice and went to an allergist who did the skin p*rick test and said I was allergic to rice, almonds, rye, buckwheat, mustard, peas, strawberries, and more. I was chomping down a lot of almonds and also having a decent amount of rice. I've removed all of them from my diet for the last two weeks or so.

My question is how long does it generally take for the body to be rid of allergens? Also has anyone had any issues with food allergy and Gerd?

Re: Food Allergy How Long to Clear Out?

For stuff like hives, 2 weeks should be long enough to see major improvement. For the esophagitis, it might take up to 2 months for the inflammation to heal.

Are you feeling ANY better?
