itchy blistery rash, after shoulder surgery

I had shoulder surgey Nov. 2009. In January, I noticed my shoulder was itchy, I thought it was just part of the healing process, therefore didn't really pay alot of attention to it. Finally it started easing off, but before it completely healed, blisters popped up and itching began again. This would happen in cycles...just before the last of the rash would disappear it would, burst into a rash yet again. I finally decided to go back to the dr. who informed me, I needed to see a dermotoligist. The dermotoligist, informed me it was contact dermatitis. We could not figure out what it is exactly, that I am allergic to. Here we are 2 1/2 yrs later and horrible scaring & excruciating itching, & not to mention the embarassment of people seeing this awful patch on my shoulder everytime I want to wear a tank top.
I believe, that I am allergic to whatever it is they installed in my shoulder. I can not find anything to support my thoughts on the internet. So I am asking you.....Have any of you experienced anything similar to this?

Thanks, in advance for your help.

If they put in an implant or staple, you might indeed be allergic to it! Talk to the surgeon and find out exactly what it is.

If you are allergic, desensitization (allergy shots) might fix the reaction.
