I took L-theanine for anxiety and it helps but I have no appetite what so ever and I love to eat. It was kinda too good to be true that I would be able to tolerate it. I also tried 5-htp and had a decreased appetite and way too hyper. I refuse to take meds for anxiety so if you have any suggestions please help. Let me know your experience on L-theanine.

No I have not. I know most people use it for sleep and I don't really need it for sleep more for mild stress and anxiety.

Re: L-theanine No Appetite
I take valerian as needed for anxiety and it doesn't make me sleepy. Everybody's different, though, you could try it and see how it affects you. Another herb that I heard was good, although I haven't tried it personally, is holy basil.

Re: L-theanine No Appetite
kava is the best herbal remedy for anxiety. some say it can cause liver damage--but this is extremely rare when used as directed.

Re: L-theanine No Appetite
I take 100 mg. of L-Theanine in the a.m. for anxiety and also just starting taking the amino acid L-Tryptophan before bed. Both amino acids naturally increase serotonin which plays a role in anxiety. Also, both can be purchased in a health food store.
I would suggest you research L-Tryptophan for anxiety and then give it a try.
