alzhemier's vs parkinsons

my dad recently got diagnosed with parkison. However, family thinks it could be alzhemier's. My grandfather also had alzhemier's

Is there an easy way to tell which it is

Re: alzhemier's vs parkinsons

While there is no objective test for either Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's disease, I would think a decent neurologist should be able to make a diagnosis between the two.

The most obvious signs of Parkinson's have to do with movement..Tremor, rigid muscles, impaired balance and posture, changes in writing and speech, etc.

Alzheimer's tends to present with memory issues, forgetfulness, etc. It takes quite awhile for physical symptoms to develop, many years, in my mom's case. By then she had completely lost any short-term memory, didn't know who I was, didn't really know much of anything.

What makes your relatives doubt the diagnosis?
