Question Last stages of ALS---question

I have a friend who is in the last-stages of ALS. She is totally dependant on the care giver. She is completely immobile and often uses a breathing machine. Whether it's denial or grasping at the last straws of hope, she wants to be tested again for lyme disease. I understand we all need to have hope...however, does anyone know the chances she would have IF it would be found that she indeed has Lyme disease since she is so far along in the "ALS" progression.

Re: Last stages of ALS---question

hi deanier

yes there is hope. i have a story of person from pa who was bedfast with a feeding tube in 1997 with an als dx and was then dx with lyme. after 7 years of agressive antibiotic theropy and coloidial silver he is fine. i met him and his wife and there was no sign of any illness in 4-2004. this is what i am peronnally holding on to. i was dxd with als in 4-2002 and then lyme in 7-2002. i have been on abx ever since. to be honest i have continued to weaken but will keep fighting till the end that als is late stage lyme gone un dxd . if not then why is iv antibiotics helping als victoms. this is the reason i post on this board.

go to the lyme threads and ask for help !!!!

Re: Last stages of ALS---question

we visited a lymes disease doc after my husband was diagnosed with als in nov. he told us that he believed tim had lymes but also didnt take the als diagnosis away. he said he believes in some way the two are connected, but doesnt know exactly how-- is lymes late stage als or vice versa. he was very honest. he stated his belief was based on the use of anitbiotics in the current trials to treat als, and some getting a good response.
Now, our als specialist deny that they have any relation to each other. they say it's never been shown to have any connection.
tim tried several antibiotics for 5 months, and showed no positive changes. in fact, symptoms have gotten worse.
best of luck to you and your friend.
