Red face Passed out Tuesday rushed to ER

So I felt crappy all day Tuesday at work but I was able to make it through the work day. I came home and as I was going up the stairs, I passed out. I came to with my husband standing over me at the bottom of the stairs. He rushed me to the ER and they admitted me due to my iron deficiency anemia. My hemoglobin was a 7 when I wAs admitted and was a 9.7 when they released me yesterday. My ferritin only went from a 5 to a 9. I was given 3 units of blood through transfusions and 1 iron therapy of feraheme. Shouldn't my numbers have gone up more? I still feel tired, exhausted and crapoy, but the hospital wouldn't do anymore for me. HELP, what should my next move be?

I also fainted when my level was at a 7, and was given a transfusion.
Your next step is to go to your general physician. What needs to be determined is why your ferritin is so low. Do you have very heavy periods? Might you have fibroids? That was my issue. Do you take a daily iron supplement?
Going from a 5 to a 9 is a world of difference, so no worries there.

Going from a 5 to a 9 is still low though. I still feel very weak and have no energy. The hospital wouldn't listen to me. I am on depo pro era so I don't cycle. Fibroids I don't know, internal bleeding, I don't know because the hospital wasn't willing to run any tests at all.

    Hi,
You had an infusion but those take 6 weeks to affect my numbers. Mine zoomed up from 9-375 but it took 6 weeks. You will feel better but it will take a while. Hang in there.
