    Iron staining

    Hello,
I had an iron infusion recently and it has left me with permanent staining approx 15cm x 15cm on my inner right arm. It was done manually by a nurse intravenously. I would like to know if anyone else has had significant staining and if you had any successful treatment to remove it. I understand laser can help but cannot find any solid info on the web. I am deeply upset about the staining as I am constantly getting looks and strangers asking what happened, along with people joking my partner is abusing me. I am thinking about taking legal action as I was not aware of the risks of staining. thank you

    Sorry for the confusion.

I've been getting iron infusions for five years now, and I've never experienced any staining. The iron goes straight in the vein, so are you saying after the iron went in your vein it stained your arm?

Are you sure it's not just a really bad bruise? Anemia makes us bruise badly and they don't heal fast. I still have a bruise from my blood draw from 2 weeks ago, watch it, if it changes color at all it's probably a bruise and will eventually go away. Sorry, that sounds awful. Hope it clears up.

    Re: Iron staining

Hello, yes it is iron staining and it is permanent. When the iron is infused it goes directly into the vein. But in my case the needle has moved and instead of the vain it has gone into the tissue. I have had no problem on previous infusiond😄. They messed this one up as the needle wasn't in the vein properly. I wish it was bruising. 😞
