    Question 1st appointment, scared

To start I have had problems for the last 2 years but had a bad doc and they wanted me to take oral iron .... i tried at least 5 but could not find one that would work with out tons of GI problems.... I am very worried about how the process works / what to expect when I would get transfusions or how that works.... scared they will want a bone marrow sample tooo..... here are some of my labs. they were taken on the 17th (they already started me on 10000 of vit d3 daily)

Hello! Your story and labs are very similar to mine. Chances are the hematologist will set you up for iron infusions (to be done on a future date). I am going in for my 2nd of 5 infusions tomorrow. I'm getting 200 mg of IV Venofer each week for 5 weeks. So far so good. I've had no problems. There are many types of iron and different protocols for each type/dose. Whatever the hematologist recommends, I'd be sure to ask why they recommend that particular iron for you and what the typical side effects are that you might expect. Don't stress about it too much. You will feel better when you get some iron in you!

That's great news! I'm glad they're setting you up for the Venofer infusions. My 2nd infusion went well today--aside from the iv placement circus. I've got tiny, and apparently, extremely shy veins. Four tries!

I have felt no ill effects from my infusion this morning at all. Hope you feel better fast.
