Still trying to diagnose Anemia

Hi I am a 45 year old female that was diagnosed with Anemia in December 2016. Since then, i have been referred to an oncologist/hematologist to try to figure out why i have it. She ran more labs and said she thinks i am losing blood somewhere unrelated to my monthly cycle. She referred me to a gastroenterologist to schedule a colonoscopy. I finally had the colonoscopy in June and the results were fine other than hemorrhoids. I have had one of them banded so far but not sure if it worked. This week, i have an endoscopy scheduled then if everything is ok with that, i have to swallow the pill camera. I am really frustrated with my docs as it has taken from November until August to get this far. I have no results or reason for the anemia yet. It takes so long to get the appointments and tests scheduled. I hope my endoscopy is clear and no issues. Has anyone been through all the tests and still have no answers for the cause of anemia? I am scheduled to see the hematologist again next week to start taking iron tablets but in the past, they make me so sick and feel horrible. Not to mention i have spent almost $2200 after insurance just for the colonoscopy and doctor visits, I sure the next two tests will be another few grand. I am tired of all the dr's and feeling so tired

Re: Still trying to diagnose Anemia

hey there tired, how are you feeling? Its not acceptable
that you are still going through this, and this started back in
December. You should of been put on some kind of regimine by now.
I would think if your tests are coming back that your not bleeding
anywhere else in your body than it has to do with you not taking in
enough iron. Losing blood every month with your cycle even though
it may not be heavy your still losing iron and maybe your not taking
enough in with your diet. Have you been taking an iron supplement?

Unless you are having a problem absorbing iron, but
that is usually with problems like with Crohns disease and you don't have that. It could be as simple as your not replacing the iron your losing each month.
I hope you got some answers at your last appointment..
