    Scared looking for real advice

Went on vacation and took advantage of low cost to get some routine blood work done. My wife's blood work came back that her hemoglobin was at 7.3 And we did a glucose test. Her fasted state was 92 and 2 hours after the high glucose drink her reading was 61. The hemoglobin level caused great alarm. We went to the ER and the test was confirmed hemoglobin at 6.6. Doc prescribed 3 B12 shots and iron pills and follow up blood work the next day. Well we weren't going to stay in the country for a transfusion. Our plane was scheduled to leave the next day. We are back home. Concerned and so scared. Tomorrow she is going to get some labs done to check specifically for anemia B12 folate excetera. Any advice/insight is appreciated.

Hi, I only just found out a month ago I was anemic. I went to a naturopath and have been taking natural meds & eating very healthy, eat a lot of iron foods as that will help a lot! They say it takes some time to build your blood cells back up but you just kinda have to go with it.
    Hope she gets better

Low Iron or anemia is not something to be ultra worried about as long as you are on top of it...a doctor can prescribe a good diet for you, can supplement with iron pills and continue monitoring the situation.

Dont try to fix this yourself. She needs prescription strength iron to get her back to normal levels and she needs to be watched that it doesnt increase too quickly and that it works.

Try not to worry, but get her to a doctor...symptoms of low iron include exhaustion...has she been sleepier than usual during the day?
