Fluid Overload due to Blood Transfusion

    Hi guys,

My dad is anemic and needs blood transfusion once every two weeks. Whenever he gets blood transfusion, he gets reaction whereby his lungs gets fluid overload. The nurse have to stop the transfusion and put him on oxygen to help him breathe. It will take 2 days to get the fluid off the lungs until he is discharge. Question is, why he gets fluid overload and how to overcome this to avoid it from happening the next time he goes for blood transfusion? Thanks
