    Post B12-Anemia

    Hi,
In the early 90's I began feeling worn out and slept all day into the night.I went to my doctor and had a SMAC done..Everything checked out ok except my Iron level was 3...She prescribed me Ferrance HP..Then in 97 I was in hospital and my Iron and B12 level was low...I took B12 shots for about a week or so while in hosp along with an iron supplement...What is the correlation between B12 and Anemia?Im currently taking an OTC Iron Supplement...

B12 is a form of anemia. I have it and will have to take B12 injections for the rest of my life.

Everytime I have blood drawn I am told I am anemic, but no one ever does anything about it. I read somewhere that if you don't have caffeine or nicotine within an hour of your meals, then your body is able to get the iron it needs. However, if you are anemic and have nicotine or caffeine within an hour of eating, then the iron will be incapsulated and pass straight thru your system. I tried this, and the next time I had blood drawn, there was a marked improvement, however, still no one prescribed anything. Over the counter stuff just constipates me, and I am already a slow mover.

I have pernicious anemia which is B12 deficiency. I will take the injections for the rest of my life. Some people have a low B12 level but no pernicious and sublingual b12 will do fine for them.
