    Sorry, but this can mean many things. If it is a trace I don't think that you have to be so concerned. I would repeat the test and see what the doc says next. FLFLOWERGIRL

    I have had this once before and they didn't think it was a big deal. Sometimes if you haven't been drinking enough you can get weird things on a urinalysis. If it comes up often, then they start worrying about diabetes. Protein in the urine is one of the first signs of diabetes affecting the kidneys. If it is not diabetes, and you still keep getting protein in the urine, they will usually do a kidney workup to see why the kidneys aren't filtering properly.

    Certain medications can also cause this.

    Many times this is just dehydration, but may be something more. FLFLOWERGIRL

    have you had a bladder or kidney infection recently? i have had protein show up when i have had a kidney infection.

    When my hemolytic anemia is acting up, I get protein in my urine. It always prompts them to do something quick.
