    how many hours does it takes for blood transfusion?

    THe only time I have had a blood transfusion -- 2 units took 6 hours. It was whole blood and it dropped on a ball -- I was told that keeps from damaging the blood cells.

    I got 3 units last week at the hospital and it took approx 8 hours (about 2.5 a peice) but part of that was waiting for someone to come and change the bag etc. Wasn't fun but i feel a lot better now.
