Is this an anemia problem or a B12 problem or something else?

My iron level is only 10 and my B12 is 300, my hemoglobin is 10. I have been going to the gym for 3 years now. I go almost every day. I burn 300 to 500 calories every night. I am 5'3 and weigh nearly 200 lbs. I am 44 years old. I am not a vegetarian. I eat a healthy diet, no fads. I always have at least 1 vegetable and 1 fruit a day and I eat meat, fish, chicken or beans for protein. My hair is falling out and my eyelashes are almost invisible now. I started dieting and exercising to get healthy. I am really strong now, but I get exhausted in my workouts. I have to stop to breath, then continue. I can't lose weight. Iron pills and B12 pills don't seem to help. I am cold all the time. I have a heated blanket in Florida. I finally got insurance and my doctor says that I will have to take Ferratin Forte and B12 1000mcg pills for 3 months and if it isn't better by then, I can get injections or B12. I would like an iron IV infusion and B12 injections now. 3 months seem too long to wait. What is wrong with me and what should I do?

All of the symptoms you mentioned.....fatigue, eyebrow loss, weight gain or inability to lose, hair falling out.......are symptoms/signs of hypothyroidism. Have you have your TSH, FT4 and FT3 checked. Your TSH level should be around 1 to be optimal. Some doctors will say it is "in range" when they are using the old guidelines. The new guidelines from the AACE are .3-3.0. PLEASE have your thryoid checked and also check out the thyroid board.

You will see that people with hypothyroidism most often have low ferritin, low B12 and low Vitamin D levels as well! Good luck!
