do i need my b12 levels rechecked?

In march 2009 by b12 levels were 512, and by march 2010 they had dropped to 242 (still normal range?) and at this time my folic acid level was also slightly low, which i had tablets for. any ideas why there was such a big drop in only a year? I have been a strict vegetarian since January 2009 but didnt think the b12 would have dropped THAT much. any ideas because i dont know if i need to keep a close eye on the levels or not and also what could have caused the massive drop in b12.

    Thankyou

Obviously, you are not taking in enough B-12 with your diet since 2009 so yes, it doesn't seem to take much for a B-12 drop from my experience. I would think that it was a result of being a strict vegetarian, as you say, I am not sure. I am close to being a veggie and have never had that problem. Everyone is so different. I supplemented with B-12 to keep my normal levels up because I am at risk of absorption of B-12. So no matter what, its is so hard to find the answers to these questions even after mega testing and money. Just do the best you can, research be sure you don't suffer from an AI disease such as PA and supplement is all that I can offer as a suggestion. After all, I am only a patient like you.

I think the drop is your diet most likely and yes, you should keep a close watch and see what happens. You never know if it is an AI disease at play. Be well, FLFLOWERGIRL
