    Iron supplement question

    Hi- My HEmoglobin is 12 but ferritin is 3- been like this for years- tried IV infusions- allergic - what high dose iron has worked for any of you? I like the most natural one possible- Thanks!

    I like Proferrin.

    Its a low dose (11-12 mg per pill), but it has helped me immensely. I tried ferrous gluconate and Faramax 150 with no change in my levels. With Proferrin my hemoglobin went from 9 to 13 and my ferritin is up 8 from undetectable.

    I originally took 5 pills per day for 2 months to get the jump in hemoglobin. Now I'm taking the recommended 3 per day and will see how I'm making out when I get bloodwork in a few weeks.

    Although its a low dose, it's the easiest kind of iron to absorb so you get more of it in your system.
