Can ulcer cause anemia?
 

I was diagnosed with severe anemia last July 2014. My hemoglobin was down to 57. I had to undergo blood transfusion. Then, my doctor said they couldn't tell what's the cause of my anemia and I haven't been able to visit the specialist he recommended.

I've been thinking maybe I had a bleeding inside because of my ulcer and that was the cause of my anemia? Is that possible?

hi DE2014 - yes an ulcer can cause anemia .... i had a "slow bleeding" stomach ulcer that caused my anemia....supposedly "cured" now, but believe i still have a leaky ulcer somewhere in my digestive tract.....BUT yes you are right....and remind your dr that iron supplements can cause major constipation and that can play havoc on your digestive tract too......be well my friend !
