    Iron recommendations for sensitive stomach

The last time I was checked about 6 months ago my ferritin was quite low. My hemoglobin has been really good though like a 14. However, I can't take much iron. I have tried all different kinds from chewable to liquid to slw release but all of them give me nausea and stomach upset. Also, sometimes I get heart palpitations from iron. Lately I have been experiencing extreme fatigue, which I think must be due to cutting down on my iron supplementation.

Could anyone suggest a supplement that has worked on sensitive stomach ?

Hey Snowbell60, how are you doing?
I am like you and cannot tolerate most forms of iron however I have found something that I can finally take which doesn't upset my stomach. I get t through ******, but I've also seen in in some health stores. It's called Blood Builder, it also has vitamin c and vitamin B which aid in the absorption of Iron. It has been a Godsend, I can even take it on an empty stomach and have seen great improvement since starting it. Hope this helps!

Is it called the Megafood Blood Builder ? I have seen it at Whole Foods. It was pricey so I didn't think of trying it. Really...does it not bother your stomach at all ?

Yes, that's the one! I get it from ****** for that same reason because it was a couple dollars cheaper than my local store. It hasn't bother me at all, and it has been the only supplement that has (relatively) quickly raised my numbers in a short period maybe because I am actually taking it lol

Re: Iron recommendations for sensitive stomach

I got wicked constipation from the iron supplements last fall. Tried several types. Ended up talking to GI doc and opting for a couple iron transfusions. I haven't needed any supplementation since early December, and 3 sets of labs have come back normal for my Ferritin, which was at a 4 prior to the infusions. Very happy I made that choice.
