Sudden Anxiety Has Invaded my Life

Up until two weeks ago, I was doing just fine and all of a sudden ANXIETY entered my life. Granted there had been a change which was not teaching a class for the first time in over 40 years, but still I have other wonderful other careers that are still a part of my life (social worker and medical home health social worker). So, I am shocked at this awful feeling of anxiety. I have gone to see a Psychiatrist, he suggest Ativan, low dosage, I started taking low dosage, anxiety calmed down, stopped taking the pills and for a few days feeling much better, now the anxiety is back. I am so upset by all of this I am not a person who is one to sit around and do nothing. All of my life I have been a helper and happy with who I am and what I do. I am scared because I don't want to be anxious, I want to get back to where I was with out drugging myself with pills. I am hoping I can learn about different strategies, other peoples experiences, suggestions. In full disclosure, I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration but I have been handling this well as my doctor has been most encouraging and I am hopeful that it will not progress any further than it has. I receive this diagnosis several years ago and have been leading my life fully up until several weeks ago. Open to feedback, Thank You.

I feel the same way! I'm not one to be too hung up on things, I'm not unhappy with my life or worried about anything, yet I still get random anxiety attacks. Its terrible because I don't know why I'm so scared, I'll be perfectly fine. I'm thinking I have IBS as most of these happen after eating and this started after I started eating these fiber bars with sugarcane sugar, which is extremely bad for IBS patients. Do you get anxiety when doing anything in particular like after eating or moving too much? Try checking your digestive system at the doctors and maybe go to a heart specialist?
