Hi I was wondering if anyone else feels dizzy in flourescent lighting? Sometimes i feel so dizzy and weird in places that have allot of flourescent lighting I have to leave. Is it just me?

No, it's not just you.
When I was still suffering from panic and anxiety flourescent lights always made me dizzy...also those big home improvement stores used to freak me out to...the smell of all that wood used to drive me crazy!
I'm sorry I can't really tell you how to make it stop happening, when my panic and anxiety went away the problem with lights and smells went with it.
Just wanted you to know that you're not the only one bothered by this.

I'm dizzy 24/7, but when I go to Wal-Mart (or any department store), oh boy. Can't stay there too long.

flouro lights bother some, they flicker about 30 times a second, sunglasses help for all brightly lit areas

I wear sunglasses and always bring bottled water to places like that.
Drinking water helps regulate my breathing and takes my mind off of my heart rate.
Ever try Ikea...wow that is the WORST place if things bother you like smell, noise, people, lights....and too much to look at all over the place.
I had a medical test after a car accident where they flickered lights at incredible speeds and it brought on full blown panic attacks.
Even a regular computer screen makes me dizzy. I use an LCD flat screen....so much better!!!

Weeeeeee! Im happy in a way because others go threw this too. Im not nuts! My husband laughs lovingly when we go into walmart at ten at night and Im wearing my sunglasses. Magic sunglasses that is. Its funny because I notice many of us will laugh at our panic issues but when they happen they arent funny at all! Someone once said the lights give off energy plus they do flicker like one post mentioned. I wonder if when our panic isnt in control if we are more sensitive to the five senses. Maybe they are hightened because our adrenals are going nuts. you know the fight or flight thing?

Oh yeah, I remember when I was a teenager I worked as a cashier. The lights there always gave me a headache, and then walking down the aisle to go to the breakroom I was soooooo dizzy!! I hated it.
I still get this way at most stores!!

This happens to me too, usually in big places like you all have mentioned (walmart, home depot)...
One time it happened so bad in Home Depot that I had to walk outside and sit in the car while I waited for my family to finish their shopping.
This seems to be more common than I thought it was (like many of you, I thought it was 'only me')
Any ideas of what would cause something like this? Is it just purely anxiety?

I think a lot has to do with the darn lights. They make me sick just thinking about them!!

I have that problem too! It doesn't have to be flouresent(sp) but any kind of overhead light can give my eyes fits.

Same here.
When my anxiety is at its worst I get the same feeling. Mine isn't so much a feeling of being dizzy but everything looking a bit fuzzy. When I'm in a large department store, just like that other person said, I will sometimes get a dizzy, sort of surreal feeling.
It's certainly not just you.

As far as why, and I can't remember where I read this so you may want to do some additional searching, it's because when you are anxious you get a lot of muscle tension. Some of this tension is in your scalp which causes the blood vessels to constrict due to pressure. This lack of blood flow brings on these feelings of dizziness and/or blurry vision. I know that I can sometimes feel this tension in my scalp, forehead and neck. It sometimes feels like there is a tight band around my head.
