What therapies do you supplement meds with

The people who take meds, do many of you supplement with therapies and if so which ones. I will be taking a coginitive behavioural therapy for my anxiety so I was just wondering what others are doing. I also take medications of seroquel, buspar, and celexa.

I am curious for those on benzo's do you supplement with other therapies because I thought benzo's were only supposed to be short term. I come from a fairly small city that does not have a lot in the way of therapies so I could really see that as being a problem for some. Then there is also the cost to think of.

Re: What therapies do you supplement meds with

I use benzos as needed and probably will forever unless I suddenly am cured from this terrible anxiety illness. I will not take anymore anti-depressants, they make me feel worse than just the anxiety. I have not had CBT, but I do use deep breathing techniques to help calm myself. I used to take a beta-blocker (Atenolol) and I'm thinking about taking it again if I have another bad period of panic attacks. For now I'm fine with half a Xanax, once or twice a week.

I take a beta blocker for my heart (SVT and PVCs), klonopin .25 mg at bedtime, and .25mg of ativan as needed.

I am doing some CBT exercises from a couple books. There really arent any experienced CBT therapists covered by my insurance

I also see a counsler with talk therapy 2-4 times a month.

I do journaling as well.

Thats about it. Wish I had more resources. Curious about hypnotism.

Re: What therapies do you supplement meds with

I take 10mg Lexapro daily.
0.5mg Ativan as needed

I have never had therapybelieve it or not out of the many general practioners ive seen over the years NONE of them have sent me to a therapist or even told me to go,and let me tell ya I have severe anxiety at times.

I do use the deep breathing technique though(which i learned from the internet) which does help once in a while.

Other then that I just try to relax as much as I possibly can.I think without the meds though id really lose it.
