Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

Hello all I am 16 years old and about 5'5 in height 135 lbs. Unfortunately this past Sunday, I made the wrong choice in doing "something". It was this color. Im not allowed to talk about it so I hope you guys know what I mean lol. After doing "it" I thought i was gonna die. The side effects were horrible i was dizzy and blanking out. It scared the hell outta me. I was like that the next day. EXTREMLY diizzy and no short term memory. I had to admit to my mom what I had done so I would get help. I was basically bed ridden for the next two days. I couldnt go to school cause I couldnt think straight, talk properly, even eat! I was soo scared something was wrong with me. She took my to the E.R. They told me to eat and sleep. My mom takes me to a neurologist and I have a EEG done, everything comes back perfect. I also get bloodwork and urine analysis, and two days later (today), i get those results back & that comes back fine aswell. No toxins in my blood, so that means it wasnt harmful "stuff". My problem is im still feeling very dizzy, i cant focus in school, i seem to blank out alot. My neurologist suggests that I must be suffering from anxiety , and Im manifesting these symptons since I have nothing in my system and my EEG came back fine so theres no problems with my brain. I just want to know if anyone disagrees with my doctor and i should seek other medical attention. OR you agree with him and think im having anxiety, if anyone can suggest why maybe you think im still feeling this way, and if you have ANY advice on things i can do that can get my mind of it, things i can take , or if i should see maybe a therapist or somethin? idk i just need help cause if my doctor is right that im ok and i just have anxiety, then why am i still feeling slightlydizzy, etc?

I'm went for some reiki treatment yesterday (almost like meditating), its helped me with my past anxiety hopefully it will this time, too!

By the way, I also noticed that if Im just on my computer listenin to music and surfin the web, or watching tv, or being with someone i trust like my mom or my brother then i feel alot better. I dont notice my symptons.
But, if i go to like school or if i even leave the house my symptons get really bad and i get really depressed and tired.
I also noticed that if people in myhouse start fighting they get really bad, too, and also my temper has gotten bad , too.
I find myself crying for no reason.
Sometimes I even have trouble breathing if it gets bad and my heart starts goin really quick.
Quick update, Im startin to focus a bit better in school but theres always a point in the day when I lose my train of thought and get dizzy. ugh

My mom and brother bought me a turtle to get my mind off things. Its helped.

    THANKS FOR READIN!
    jared

P.S. it was my first time doing "it
    "

    lol

Yeah I would'nt do that again but somehow I don't think you will haha.I had my own bad experiance with the same thing when younger.I do however think the doctor is right it is anxiety causing any symptoms you are having now.I do think you should continue the meditation..I believe you said you tried this and it helped some and maybe try some CBT therapy..good luck

Re: Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

    Hey Jared,
Glad you posted here, and i hope you get some good advice. Honestly, I had a bad reaction to an antidepressant my doc had me try the other day. I felt like I was so high I couldnt drive. It was horrible. I hated it. It took the whole day of sleeping, and eating good ole mashed potatoes and gravy, just to get back to my old self the next two days.
Ill never touch the stuff again, and i called him and told him so.
Point being, all of your tests came out ok, so you know you're physically ok.Right? So i think your doc is on the right track. I know that when i feel out of it or wierd, I have this fear that im never going to get back to normal, and it just makes it all worse!!!! I start imagining things, ect. having all these symptoms, and Im a mess. And from all of the following of your posts from the beginning, I think that you could be doing the same. dont let it consume you. And i hope you learned your lesson, cause your body is telling you right now that it doesnt like "BAD" substances. Period.
Take it as a wake up call, and a blessing that your body DOESNT like it. You are a lucky dude.
Take care of the turtle, trust your doc, and dont obsess. Get some help for your anxiety, there are a lot of things available. I hope your mom will help you out with all of this, and tell her whats going on. I have a son, and hes younger than you but we are super tight. Id be proud of him if he came clean, but Id also wonder if there wasnt something I could have done, or coudnt be doing for him. Bet your mom feels the same way. I hope so.
Get a good book to take you to a different place and get your mind back on track. Its always nice to go to your room and close the door and escape into a good book, if you like to read.
Youve taken some good steps so far to help yourself, besides the 'episode', so keep on track. Get a doc that can help with the anxiety. And remember that all of the energy you are spending worrying may be taking a toll on you and not letting your body get back on track.
You messed with your system, and its gonna take a bit to get it back. Let us know how youre doing. sorry so long of a post~
    xoxoxoxo,

Re: Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

A lot of people have the same reactions from doing the same thing (I did also), especially if they are prone to anxiety in the first place. I would say for a start make sure you are getting enough sleep at night, eat regularly throughout the day, and drink a good amount of water each day. You said you had anxiety in the past, which I guess means you overcame it... which means you have experience with dealing with it, which is good. Just keep your mind off of it... whatever you do, don't concentrate on these symptoms or the way your anxiety feels or anything like that. Try thinking positively, if you start feeling your anixety come on just know that you can and will get through it.

CBT is cognitive behavioural therapy... it focuses on changing your thought patterns and the way your mind reacts to certain situations... how to replace "bad" thoughts with "good" thoughts. Many many people (including me) will say that it's the best therapy. You should look into it if you feel you may need it, but it sounds like maybe you just had a little fall and need to pick yourself up. I hope things go well... let us know how you're doing.

Hmm weed is usually a great way to relax, it can help my anxiety at times. Of course everyone is different and it's obvious it's something you should avoid.

Youre welcome Jared~ Relax, have some fun, hang out with your family, pet your turtle..LOL~ Take care, and stay in touch ok? Im always on the Pain Management forum, but Ill check back to see how you are doing. Make an appt with your doc to try some anti anxiety things. You have anxiety issues it strongly seems without having the weed in the picture.
Its hard being a teen, and if you get some help in the anxiety issues, youll be a happier guy. Plus, you wont be tempted to try something to make it all better that could really harm you. Make an appt, talk to your mom, have her take you, and trust that things will get better, k?

Re: Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

I had a bad reaction to that which was green as well. I now don't toutch that which is green anymore. I quit smoking, drinking, caffeine, and all other harmful drugs. I started meditating every morning and I take Xanas 2 mg per day. I feel much better.

The lifestyle changes are absolutely needed. You can not get better without giving up some of your vices, so you have a decision to make. Do I want to feel better or not.

I hope you choose the latter,
    OE

Re: Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

I had the same problem with that substance. I had done it about 15 times, and the last few times I got kinda jumpy, couldn't sit still etc. The last time I did it, I had a full out panic attack and it was absolutely horrible. To this day, I cannot be around it or anyone who does it, b/c I freak out.

Re: Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

Ok so basically my neurologist discharged me today, diagnosing me with anxiety. He told my to go online and read up on anxiety and also find my own methods to keep myself calm (which is where I need your guys' help), and in time I will feel better.

I am going to reiki again soon, and will be thinking about some CBT therapy, but I DESPERATELY need some advice or suggestions of what I could do or see or take to overcopme this anxiety? I cant do this alone.

    Thanks guys
    Jared

Re: Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

No, you cant do it alone. You need a strong support system, and you also need to not be ashamed of it. Anxiety and panic are very common problems in todays society. If the reiki works for you, then definitely keep doing it. CBT is a good idea as well. Did your neuro prescribe you anything for the anxiety and if so, what? If not, you will want to see a psychiatrist for the CBT, so they can prescribe something for you.

Reading up on anxiety is a good idea, but can sometimes make you think about it more and make it worse for you. Do research on sites that have factual information, not opinions. This site is good for support and to ask questions of others who may have the same symptoms and issues with meds. But remember that this is an opinion based site. None of us are doctors (at least that i know of), and we're not always right.

Figuring out whats gonna work for you is trial and error. For me, if I get on the computer, I can normally distract myself from my anxiety. But, everyone is different. Alot of people suggest the Dr. Claire Weekes books for help with their anxiety. I personally have not read, but its an idea.

    Good Luck!

Re: Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

Im kinda confused lol, is it a psychiatrist that performs the CBT? or are their specialists that only do CBT's, nothing else?
My neuro didnt put me on anything, because he said its only been a week and a half and it hasnt been long enough to put me on any meds. My mom said she doesnt want me on meds anyways, because I have the type of personality where I may be addicted to meds, and my mom fears that. So she refuses meds, and so did my neuro.
Thats what scares me, the fact that I want meds to help me, but Im worried I may become addicted to them. I also have a best friend that takes anti depressents and has HORRIBLE side effects, so that puts me off any meds that deal with the brain even more!

    Suggestions? Thanks guys!

Re: Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

psychiatrist can teach CBT as can some therapists and some counselors. As a general rule a person is'nt diagnosed with an anxiety disorder until they have had symptoms for 3 months or longer. So your doctor is right and ya know this may just be a passing thing for you ..I hope so.I totally understand your mothers feelings on medications. In my opinion people should try other things before resorting to anti anxiety medications.I have taken medication in the past had some bad experiances with some and others worked great. So im not saying medication is horrible it can be extremly helpful but I just think if possible other things should be done instead.

Re: Did "something" and now im having really bad anxiety

Jared, I think it is awesome that you are actively seeking help and obviously your mum is not down on you and is supporting you. I know what ur going through. This happened to me when I was 16 and I never touched it since. The experience of this happening to your body can mean you are now 'sensitised' to your body-meaning the slightest new sensation is gonna make you freak a bit coz you think 'oh know here comes that feeling...and such and such..i might freak..what if...' but it can be overcome by now knowing you will be okay and even more okay since even if you do have feelings of dizziness or what have you then its okay and no lasting effects will occur. Hang in there...get to know ur body...know what 'your own' anxiety symptoms are and what feelings you get ..and think 'hey this is anxiety...i will be okay...breathe and remember there is lots of us out there who have been through this and can relate. Your not alone.
