I've heard dizziness is often caused by anxiety, and I'm wondering if the kind I have could be a fit. Could anyone give any input?
I've felt dizzy for the last six months or so. It happens pretty continually, almost all the time, although the level of dizziness changes day to day. It happens both walking and lying down. It's an unsteady, light-headed feeling - makes me fall into walls and stagger a bit. Also it seems to make concentrating pretty hard.
The other problem (which started up at the same time) is fatigue. I'm sleeping usually 12-14 hours a night, and sometimes a lot more; a couple times I slept straight for 24 hours, and once for 30 - that just doesn't seem right. I'm just really tired in general.
Some other things (all starting about six months ago as well) - migraines (never had them before), shaking hands, drinking tons, and feeling overheated.
I've had a bunch of tests and it's not MS, thyroid, nervous system, anemia... everything has pretty well checked out. My doctor dismissed anxiety pretty early on but I'm wondering if that could be a possibility. I'm hoping it's not because I can't take most of the meds (no benzos!) - anyone have any input? I don't FEEL anxious - could it cause dizziness anyway? I'd really appreciate any ideas.
Oh - one other thing. Heart rate and BP are both pretty low, especially considering I've been sick and inactive - down to 42 bpm and 85/45. My doctor says that shouldn't cause dizziness while I'm lying flat, though. Also, I started taking Ritalin, which increased the numbers to about 60 bpm and 100/60, and dizziness hasn't really changed.
I'm just worried we're overlooking something. Thanks for any help!
