Anxiety/weight loss

Do you think that if you are going throught a tough anxiety time that it can cause you to lose weight or not gain weight if you are trying? I have been eating fine but I am having a really tought time and am having some bad anxiety attacks. I can't seem to gain any weight which then sets of the anxiety too. Is it a never ending cycle? I worry about everything.

Re: Anxiety/weight loss

I lost half a stone in one week becuase of anxiety..When i get like that it affects my tummy which affects my bowels so i get diarreha and end up loosing weight very quick. Andi suppose it can go the oppisite though if it doesn't affect someone like that they can eat loads while there feel like this and hence put on weight.

Re: Anxiety/weight loss

I read this post and had to reply. I have a fluctuation in my weight as well due to anxiety, or so I believe it to be. What I do to stay on top of things and keep myself at a consistent weight is to eat. I notice that when big attacks come on I lose almost all of my appetite so I consider the fact that my body still needs food so even though I wouldn't want to eat, I know I must. At first its rough to eat on an upset stomach but a few months of eating right and I am beginning to gain my weight back slowly. Do you have a certain diet or any other underlying issues that might be the cause of all this? If not just do your best to eat what you can even if your feeling "funny" and I hope to hear that you feel better soon.

Re: Anxiety/weight loss

You know for me, i have the exact opposite effect
When I get anxious due to stress and traumatic events, I tend to gain weight even though I eat very little during these times.

I think its all the negative and nervous thoughts that seem toxic to my body and i even slightly bloat and swell - especially my face. i know it must sound weird but i even look different - my face seems to change and again i owe this all to the negative and "toxic" feelings i am having which causes me to stress out more.

just thought i'd share.
