| Prozac or generic??????
Does anyone know if these drugs work differently?
I have heard some stories that the generic brand Prozac works the same as the name brand Prozac.
Stories or input anyone?

j2,
I asked my doctor last time i went to see her.
she said that they work exactly the same, ther eis no difference whatsoever, all it is, is that some are more expensive because of it having the brand name.
The ingrediants are the same, so if anyone tries to say they are not the same , its not true.

I have always used generic but going through some of these threads some people are complaining that they have switched from the name brand to generic and received a ton more side effects.

In Canada, the original manufacturer of the drug, holds the patent for 10 years. After that, generic brands may be produced, at a much lower price.
This is why new drugs are so expensive. The manufacturer has to make back the money used to research and develop the drug in 10 years.
Most people switch to the cheaper generic after that.

yes im having some but dont know if its Prozac or not.
Really stiff joints. Needing to wee ALL the time, and mild headaches. Im off to Doc to find out if it IS the Prozac, if not im getting some more bloods done.
But i still say those side effects outweigh how its made me feel, im much calmer and i dont struggle 24/7 with shortness of breath. My Husband says dont ever come off it your SO calm !!
How are <You> doing? are you on Prozac too?

My Dr. is starting me on Friday i hope. i was on it before for a while but had to come of due to another health issue. now that that is under control and I am seeing a new PDOC - hopefully he will give me that one!
It seems to be have the least side effects. Have you gained any weight with Prozac? I didn't the short tiem I was on it but the others I did. This side effect I worry about.
I don't do well with the newer medications.

i have put on a little bit, but i think thats because i seem to have had a craving for chocolate all week. It's just these achy joints, lots of peeing and very distrubed sleep, but like i said, i can put up with that against how i was before Prozac
