    withdraw side affects with zoloft

    Hi
Ive been on zoloft for 30 days 25 mg. Four days ago, with the consent of my doctor I cut back on zoloft to half a pill a day. I still get the racing heart. My question is, are there any withdraw symptoms? My doctor says no, but i'm not sure hes right...
    Thanks,
    JoAnn

After only 30 days, you will probably only have minimal "withdrawal" symptoms, but possible symptoms include: headaches, irritability, a "shock like" feeling, especially in the head, flu like feelings, and and increase in anxiety or depression. These usually occur with people taking higher doses for longer periods of time, though. If you notice that you are really feeling strange, take a pill, and wean off slower. When I weaned off Zoloft I went for a full dose one day, a half dose the next day, I had to go slow. A good rule of thumb is to reduce your dose by 25% weekly to minimize symptoms. If you can get a pill splitter (or you are really good at breaking pills) you could decrease your dose slightly less than half if you get any symptoms. Even if you do, since you haven't been on Zoloft long, they will go away relatively quickly. Best wishes.
