I am so tired of anxiety

OKay, I started having anxiety as a teenager, but then when I was 22 I had my first full blown ER panic attack. From there things got progressively worse for months. Everything seemed to be focused around my heart. Heart racing and heart palpitations. I had an echocardiogram back then and a 2 week Holter Monitor, as well as various EKG's at different ER visits when I thought I was dying. Everything appeared to be normal. Sinus tachycardia, and a few skipped beats here and there. Time went by and these attacks came and went. About 2 years ago I had another 24 hour holter monitor while I was pregnant with my fourth child. Over the course of 24 hours I had quite a few PVC's and PAC's, but all during normal sinus rhythm. I was told by the OBGYN shigh risk specialist that ordered it that the results were normal. Okay so, time has gone by again. These nasty buggers come and go. It can be a month or so of nothing and then all of a sudden I seem to have a few a day in no particular fashion.
{REMOVED}I decided one last test to rule out anything else they could've possibly missed over the years was a stressecho. I just saw the dr today regarding the results and everything came back normal. I had some sinus tachycardia and one episode of a PAC couplet. Now what?
I should also mention I have had my thyroid checked twice and various blood work done throughout my pregnancies. I am not diabetic, I do smoke ( yes I know), I do not drink caffeine at all. My life is always filled with stress.
Now tonight I felt another skip and I freaked out! Even after I got these results back today. I was panicking all day until I got there, my heart was racing. Maybe it is an excess of adrenaline surging through my bloodstream? I just want to know, what would you think if you were me? How many of you have had all these tests and still worry? What is your planto combat that? Any advice would be great!

Re: I am so tired of anxiety

I used to get panic attacks when I was going to my old school. I was later on diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. My psychiatrist ordered similar tests as well as some EKG's every now and then. I did used to worry about the results but nothing negative came back so I was relieved. If I was still convinced that something was wrong with me even if all of the tests came back alright, my way of combating this would be to look at the evidence that has been given to me.

For example look at all of the evidence that proves and disproves whether there is something wrong. Try to find any reasons that make you believe that there is something wrong. A reflection of using this strategy would be there is nothing wrong with me because the tests did not say that there was anything wrong with me. And, There is something wrong with me because I get heart palpitations. A way of challenging this belief is to look at the reasons why you might believe this. A reason why I may believe this is because the anxiety that I get is making me believe that there is something wrong with me.

I use this strategy sometimes. It helps me to look at things more logically. I hope that this helps a bit.

Re: I am so tired of anxiety

Your post sounds like it came from me! Well I already know I have anxiety (never treatd though) (gonna look into counselors) but last week was the last straw! Ok, so I was at work and had a suddent bout of tunnel vision and PANICKED!! My boss called 911 and I for sure thought something was wrong..this time was the time! I have had skipped heartbeats for 5 years now and did the event recorder and was told they were benign. So anywho...get in the ambulance..get blood sugar, pressure, everything checked and all came out ok. I told the paramedic about the palps and he hooked me up to a recorder and said you have sinus arrythmia and that its very common and dont worry about it. Well I get to ER and oxygen level and the whole nine yards is fine! I wait for a bed to open up. I finally get back there and after 5 hours all these tests came back negative/normal: EGG, not pregnant, heart enzyms, chest xray, iron levels, electrolite levels......NOTHING!! Well I did have a UTI but I was embarrased that I dragged my family into this for no reason. The nurse said I could have had that tunnel vision/dizziness from the infection, which I tell people <BECAUSE> Im too shy to say it was an anxiety attack gone too far!! Well, so that said, yes I know what you mean...all theses tests came back (which is like my whole body) negative or normal and yet here I am surfing the panic and anxiety boards!! Share more with me if you want....nice to know Im not here in this boat alone....

Re: I am so tired of anxiety

I don't know if this is relevant, but I had DISABLING anxiety for nearly 2 decades that finally went away when I got on inhaler meds for reduced lung function. I am sure this is not the answer for everyone, but it is worth checking out. I could have been without years of terror if I had known this prior.
