anxiety and mentrual cycle

my anxiety is pretty bad anyways but a week before i start my period it is 100x worse. i'm supposed to start in a few days and my anxiety putting me right on the edge of a panic attack and it's frequent. i know as soon as i start it'll settle down a little bit then i'll be back to just normal anxiety after i stop but right now i can't take it. i wish i'd just i'd start already and get it over w/ so i can feel a little better. any know any natural relief for menstrual cycle induced anxiety? ugh!!

Re: anxiety and mentrual cycle

This is when mine started!! There are so many women that say the same thing. I dont care what dr's say, there is a connection. Just don't let it get the best of you like I did. I have since had a hysterectomy and still deal with the dreaded anxiety. I am finding ways to cope, and deal, I want you to do the same. Have them check your hrmone levels before, and after, see where they stand, and go from there. This is a real deal!

Hang in there

I am the same way, a complete mess one to two weeks before and during my period

so I have about 1 week every month where I feel stable anxiety not heightened

I know my anxiety and hormones have some connection

Re: anxiety and mentrual cycle

I completely agree that there is a connection! In fact, right now I'm waiting for it to start so I can feel some relief from this anxiety. I tried taking magnesium 500 mg a day a few years ago and it did seem to help a lot with my anxiety that came on 2 weeks before my period started. In fact, I think it helped with other PMS symptoms, too. If I remember correctly, it did take a couple weeks to start working, though. I don't know why I ever stopped it...maybe I need to go find those magnesium pills....
