Exclamation A horrible story what do I do?

Hello, my name is Leo I am age 20, I was prescribed the drug Celexa 10 mg on thursday afternoon January 9th 2014. I was never told the side effects of it I took the pill at 11:39pm after eating a burrito I felt very sleepy and went to sleep. at 4am in the morning Friday morning, I woke up with hallucations, palpitations, suical thought, a huge burning in my chest and jaw tightnest. I NEVER felt such horrible pain and weird stuff in my lifetime. I couldn't fall back to sleep to I stayed up reading about the side effects my doctor never told me about other then just take it! I don't have an Anxiety problem but rather a GERD problem, however now I now have an Anxiety problem due to this drug. Anyways Later in the day I tried to fight off the pain it would hit me in waves, so I called up my doctor and he told me to quit cold turkey. Saying it wouldn't affect me or withdrawal symptoms, he also made hints thinking I was lying when clearly I wasn't! Around midnight Friday night I had a huge burning in my chest again and I couldn't take it so my father (he was with me this entire time), called up 911. ambulance, fire truck the whole lot took me to ER. I was told I was having sinus Tachycardia and a possible enlarged right atrium by the Ambulance docs. I finally got into the ER and was right away put on an IV, took blood and put me on a CKG, I was in the ER for 8 hours until they released me. They said everything was normal, except my Potassium, and I did have Tach a few times standing up to pee, 130+ heart beat. My dad thought he was going to lose me The ER docs said it might be due to the cold turkey of Celexa. However they still recommend to that I stay off it. They also put me on a dose of Potassium saying Celexa can cause heart problems due to low potassium I get back home and go to sleep, I slept for almost 10 hours from 8am to 6pm, I then feel the same onset I felt Friday night (it's Saturday night now) and I said forget this! and My Mother now drove me to ER as it does cost a lot for 911. I receive the same diagnose, somewhat. The ER doctor there practically was like What are you doing here? I'm get to go home soon attitude and ignored a lot of the things going on, however the EKG/Blood was again normal except the potassium again. I have been taking my potassium mind you! I was released after 6 hours. I'm home once again it's late Saturday night and I can't sleep, I have pain on the side of my throat, plus worry and heartfelt problems, they are still hitting me in waves. I send my doc an email then try to sleep. Now it's Sunday The Bronco football game! I felt off/on pain/problems throughout the entire day but try to deal with it. I get an email from my doctor, he tells me, Oh you are lying! I think you need to go to the Phsyicatic Ward, this is all in you! My practice would never cause such an issue like this. I'm having them contact you for therapy. I'm like woah, what in the world?! Are you kidding me?! I send him an email back saying all the pain I was in and never got a reply back that Sunday. I'm still having problems with palpitations and abnormal heart beats, I also get random chills and heat flashes. I sleep ok during the night, with my mother and father at my side helping me. Now it's Monday, (yesterday), my doc calls me saying I'm still getting you into the ward, however I also got you appoints for a CT Scan, an Echosound, and a holter monitor. I was like thanks for the help doc but please keep your "psychotic ward" out of this. I went to get the hotler monitor and the rest scheduled. The rest of monday, my doctor called saying with all these pains, it's YOUR CHOICE if you want to go to ER, it's not my problem. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat my GERD was flaming up now and even water gave me heartburn. My mother/father talked to me all night, (mom called off work) I was on the hotler monitor all the way up until right now. I haven't sleep, I got an ECHO here in a few hours and curious, What in the world do I do? This pain is excruciating, my doctor really doesn't care and insists it's all on me. It's been 72 hours since I took Celexa and I still am having "withdrawal" effects as I've read and still taking my potassium with all this pain. I'll be checking this thread often, but right now I have to head off to get my ECHO.
    Thank you
    Leo

Talk with your family physician and get yourself a new specialist doctor to treat your symptoms.
If you can't trust your doctor, you need a new one who takes you seriously.

sorry for what you're going thru.....please save the email from the doctor, it could prove valuable at some point in the future if you decide to take legal action

I'm really sorry for how you are feeling.
This just goes to prove how Drs must take a patients side effect to medication very seriously.
I myself took a medication for five days which caused me bleeding in my stomach.
Three weeks later I read in the news that five people had died from the same medication and it has since been banned.
If your Dr doesn't take you seriously then change to another one.
I hope you soon feel better,

    Solofelix.

Re: A horrible story what do I do?

Hello All, I've been meaning to respond but been in a in and out painful condition still. Thank you for the kind/thoughtful words, hopefully and eventually this will come to pass. but with these doctors, ER docs and nurses. I just wonder.

Bryce, due to Kaiser, they put in a new rule that you can't change for 6 months if you are undergoing major health problems, or so I'm told when I did try to. My doc heard about this and is all of a sudden worried about my health again after seeing him Wednesday when he blew off the blood throwing up, by just touching my throat, no tongue depressor or the sort and just outright Blew up about no more talks about celexa saying it's all in my mind again.

Rose, I've really been thinking about it and probably will eventually if this crap keeps up. The ER doesn't do anything other then the same crap, the doc/nurse hotline says it's in my mind go see a social worker. But so far been told not really due to one guy mentioned no your doc is just "Insensitivity". Though if I lose the case to, that would be reeeaallly bbaaaddd!!

solofelix, I'm sorry you had to go through that kind of hell with your doctor. I'm glad they banned that medication. It does prove how docs and patients and seeing for me how the other doctors are covering my doctors butt with the same crap, even in ER. Gives to show how many just do it for the $. I must say I really liked my doctor before this to, it's rare to see a doctor involved in Model RRs.

Also Rose, I got another huge story since my last post, however, seeing how my doctor knows about when I spoke to him, he all of a sudden brought up out of the blue, "Lawsuits" and stated "everything you read on the internet is not true and will just scare you". I'm not sure until I get a case I should post anymore of it.

But what do you all think, maybe it is Anxiety that caused all this or possible a chemical reaction by the drug? If it is, maybe and just say what the heck.. and go to this social worker. But one thing I will say, I am against taking any kind of medications since this happened to me, I don't want to be apart of the addicted, or the in ER due to dyingness again. He gave me Clonazepam for the "cure" as he put it, but then tells me hey, you can also sudden die from it to and get addicted!
