Anxiety and fear of having ALS

    Hello all,

This is my first time posting to the board. My name is Kelsey and I am 24 years old. I am posting today about my anxiety and fear having ALS. I am usually an anxious person and have been diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder but I fear that my anxiety is legitamate this time. Here are my sympotms that resemble ALS:

-Weakness in my limbs and torso, especially my legs. This weakness varies and moves from one place to another. It is not weak enough for me to be tripping or dragging my legs but I drop alot of items when I am weak in the hands and arms.
-Muscle fasilations all over, especially in the buttox. These have just recently developed and happen around 20 times a day.
-Flexability impared. I stretch every morning for around 10 min but never get any more flexible. I can't even touch my toes sitting or standing up.
-Shaky muscle movements. When I bend over, my entire body shakes. This also occurs in my arms when I hold something heavy and in my legs when I am bending.
-Hyper reflexes. I tested these myself on my knee. My entire leg has a spasm and my leg jerks very quickly (quicker than it normally did in the past)
-Mild cramping in the bottom of my feet when they are flexing.

I have no problems with my speech or breathing (except for the fact that I am addicted to afrin so I get stopped easily if I do not use it).

*A few years ago, I was experiencing weakness in my arms. It felt like they needed to just "wake up" and that it took a lot of concentration to get them working properly. These symptoms went away and have returned.*

    Symptoms not relating to ALS:
    -Headaches
    -Dizziness
    -Blurred vision at times
    -Anxiety
    -Restless leg syndrome
-Vitamin D deficiency (detected by a blood test)

I say my GP and he ran some blood tests and everything came out normal except for my Vitamin D (which was really low). He recommended that I see a sports physician for my muscle aches/weakness but my appt isn't for some time. I am looking for any advice for a piece of mind. I think about having ALS all of the time and it is effecting my daily life. I cannot concentrate on anything but my symptoms. Any help would be truly appreciated.

    -Kelsey
