I was also going to suggest they check your thyroid. Some people may be 'in range' but still need meds to make them feel well. I got VERY ILL when I was slightly out of range and had MANY, MANY of the symptoms (almost all) that you describe.

thanks ya'll for your replies.. i have had my thyroid tested and yes i have been on several different antibiotics... but not sure if it caused all of this... i am still awaiting word of whether or not i will be accepted into a Research Study of the Autonomic Nervous System.. taking forever it seems.... i guess if i don't get in the study i will just have to go to mayo or somewhere for a second opinion cause i have these problems constant and the doc does not know what to do..

Does anyone know if IVIG would work for something like mine?

rachelpass- i read thru some of your posts. Im sorry youre going thru this. I have been having some of the same symptoms but also alot more. I have tingling and twitching all over my body loss of appetite cannot feel the urge to urinate anymore nausea vomiting dirreah..this all happened very suddenly after i recieved a spinal anesthesia for a c-section on aug19. The doctors didnt believe me so they sent down someone from phsyc. i was so mad! I had to admitted back to the hospital after that and they did mri's of my head back and some other tests. I have a emg/ncs on oct3 so hopefully that will give me some answers. Since obv it wasnt from the needle itself do you think it could be caused by the medication that was inside the needle?? i know one the medicine was bupivicane. Do you think this will get better worse or stay the same? I know your nerves can re-generate and research is being done to help find medicine for this process .. sure hope they do!! thanks for your help!

I read your story did u ever have and autonomic function test or a skin biopsy for small fiber neuropathy? I had alot of your symptoms and I was finally diagnosed with gastroparesis and the doctor did further testing and found out my autonomic nerves were not working properly,,My symptoms were numbness and tingling in my hands and feet nausea vomiting frequent urination constipation diarrea dizziness it took alot of time to find out what was causing this but at least i knew i wasn't crazy i finally got answers. But now they have to find a way to treat it there's no cure for it they just control the symptoms..I have tried ivig and had problems because i also have psuedtumor cerebri and it caused a fluid overload in my brain so now the doctors are waiting...

I also have small fiber neuropathy and I have most of your symptoms. It took me two years to get a diagnosis. Thank goodness for the epidermal nerve biopsy and a neuropathy specialist. I currently take lyrica and nortriptyline for pain and supplement with darvacet and muscle relaxers when the cramps are so bad. These little nerve fibers control so many things including your heart. There is a tilt table test, usually done by a cardiologist, that monitors your heart rate and blood pressure in relation to body position. Have you had this test? Do you think that there is some kind of environmental factor that might be causing this? Toxins from my occupation caused my neuropathy. I know that this is hard but I also know that this dx answers all of my symptoms and questions which started in late 2004. There is an article called, answering the burning question, which I read about 6 months ago and it was describing me. That is what led me to seek out a neurologist that would do the epidermal biopsy. Good Luck.

Re: Autonomic Nervous System Disorder or Neurological Disorder? Please Help!!

hello, MY name is Michael...I have been suffering fromArachnoiditis since 1987. Many of the symptoms you describe I have and many more. I have tried every treatment known and still my symptoms persist. As of three years ago I had a Medtronics pain pump installed to treat my pain. In doing this the Drs had to try different combonations of drugs. Now to the point. Since they put Bupivavcaine in my pump I developed a Neuropathy. The Drs. said that no way could Bupivacaine cause this problem. So, I have been searching for any connection that could answer why I developed this Neuropathy so suddenly. If you could give me more specifics as to what was going on with your treatment when you got your neuropathy AS for anyone with these unexplained symptoms...Look on the web under "Arachnoiditis" . The causes for this disease are many but, basically it is could be caused by any invasive spinal proceedure ie...nerve block , mylogram, spinal tap ect. I will await your post and answer any questions you might have.
