I was diagnosed with Sjogren's two years ago but started having symptoms in 2008. I'm on Hydroxychloroquine and Cevemaline to control symptoms and I keep up with regular eye and dental exams. My question is, have any of you successfully had your primary care doctor manage your care rather than a rheumatologist? We have a shortage of rheumatologists in this area and office visits are very brief (and do not include a physical exam), while my primary care doctor is very thorough (and is the one who correctly diagnosed me with Sjogren's when other doctors thought I had everything from thyroid cancer to lymphoma to TMJ Syndrome, as well as some writing me off as "simply" going through menopause). Have any of you had your Sjogren's successfully managed by your primary care physician? Thanks! P.S. I tried to edit my typos and hope this isn't posting twice. This is my first time posting here. :)
