Hello all,

I'm 58 and over weight. My health is pretty good. I am not a diabetic and the only med I take is Lisinpril for BP, which is good.

My hubby and I went to the beach the first week in May. We walked everywhere. Shops, beach, site seeing and on my phone's app, it showed I had walked around 14 miles in 5 days.

I have a bad knee (from a fall), a sciatica nerve that gives me a fit and a little arthritis in my big toe from a break many tears ago...also in my ankle from a bad sprain in 2016. ALL on the right side / my right leg / right foot.

But I manage real well and have little to no pain most days.

On day 5 at the beach, I noticed on my right leg, I had some redness near my ankle and top of my foot. It burned like a sunburn and at first that's what I thought it was. But I was wearing sun screen the whole time.

I took a cool shower and the burning eased up but the redness didn't. I stayed inside on day 6 and we came home on day 7.

I felt great, other than the slight burn and redness on my lower right leg and top of foot. No serious aches, no swelling, so fever. Just some slight pain in my shin.

What could this be? red burning like a sunburn.

My friend thought it was "cellulitis" and that is what it looks like, it was red, patchy, lower leg, But, no fever and didn't feel hot.

In hopes it would go away, it didn't ....and the next week I went to see my Doctor.

She said "poor circulation" and to loose some pounds, walk 30 min a day, keep blood pumping and when sitting, keep my leg elevated.

So I have followed those instructions and the redness and a slight burning still remains. Some days worse that others. Here are my questions and concerns that I hope you can help me with.

1. why would someone who just walked 14 miles in 5 days have poor circulation? looks like I would be moving enough to keep my blood flowing.

2. Could it be from the ankle injury in 2016? that's where it's red.

3. Could it be caused from the sciatica? can poor circulation come from a sciatic nerve?

4. When does the redness go away? It has been a month since this started and I still have the redness on my lower leg.

5. Any meds I could be taking to help? Aspirin? Diuretic?

6. Should I see a Vascular Specialist?

Any suggestions or information you have please share with me and help me understand this. Thank you all so so much!
