Just like the title says I have a small bump on the side of my nose. It is mostly clear to a little pink. It is pretty small, about the size of a thick pencil lead. A few times a year it will bleed without any trauma to it. It bleeds more than you would think something of that size would.
I really have never been worried about it, and it has been there about 2 years, but now that I've turned 30, I'm starting to get a little smarter and think it might be time to get it checked out.
Does this sound like BCC? The photos online show much bigger lesions that what I have, and if it's not bleeding it just looks like a smalled raised bump.

I am making my appointment with the dermatologist but just wanted feedback from the group. Thank you

Hello Jamesm,

Basal cell carcinoma's are tricky. Sometimes, they maintain their size on the surface and grow underneath. Such was the case with my first skin cancer. It was a BCC on the nose. I ignored it. It bled, healed and bled again for several months. By the time I went in for a MOHS procedure, it appeared to be around a quarter of an inch on the top. It was much larger in actuality. It had gone into the bone. My story may be exceptional, but the BCC left approximately a half inch by half inch hole which burrowed all the way through the tip of my nose. A hatchet skin flap was used to repair the damage. I was pregnant at the time and it didn't heal properly. Unfortunately, I had to go to an ENT for reconstruction because the other side of my nose collapsed. Now, I think it's best to be on the safe side. If it bleeds, have it checked out. Since my first skin cancer, I'v had a squamous cell carcinoma on my scalp and many AK's. Fortunately, I now know what most skin cancer's look like and detect them long before they have the chance to do that kind of damage.

Even if it's little, it's best to get it looked at. Good luck. I hope you like your dermatologist and everything is well.:)

I had a shave biopsy done on Thursday and should have the results back in 10 days. They didn't seem too concerned, so neither am I.
