View Full Version : vaginal bleeding

Hi I'm 68 and 2 years ago I had vaginal bleeding all over the wash cloth after a bit of a rapid wash "down there". Had all the tests and it turned out to be a accident - what sort of accident i don't know. Two days ago I woke up in the night to go to the loo and again there was bleeding in my underwear. I have very dry vaginal walls and want to know if this COULD be spontaneous bleeding from thin tissues? Has ANYONE had this? SO worried this time as no friction and I'm not sexually active. Thank you, Sarah.

Are you taking any drug or consuming any food that would make your blood thin? Some people take prescription blood thinners, for example. Aspirin and some other over the counter items may have the same effect. Taking fish oil capsules or eating oily fish everyday tends to have a blood thinning effect.

On the other hand, leafy greens contain vitamin K, so if the bleeding is just a "mistake", this vitamin should help with clotting.

Yes I do eat oily fish quite a lot and also lots of green vegetables. I'm not on any blood-thinning treatment though. I've had a full blood count for clotting and it came back normal. It seems to be just a one-off as all week I've been fine but still got to go for the tests. I've never been told oily fish thins the blood though....

Eskimos have been known to have less heart attacks because their blood is thin from eating a lot of fish. However, they have also been known to suffer more hemorrhagic strokes (bleeding in their brains).

Several years ago I decided it would be healthy to have a can of sardines everyday for lunch. I did this for a long time before I realized it was making my blood too thin. My gums would start bleeding when I went to get my teeth cleaned and they thought I had gum disease!! Also, I joined a vollyball team and wondered why I was the only one getting bruises all over my hands.
I later learned that when your blood is too thin, you will bruise easily. They were black and blue bruises. I suppose when one hits the ball it's like blunt trauma to the hands and blood vessels can burst and bleed.
