I have had acid reflux for 10 years and a hiatus hernia for 3 years. at the end of 2010 i thought i had made the decision to have the operation. so in Aril 2011 i started this process and went to my GP and then she gave me a referral to a surgeon. I see the surgeon and tell him that my reflu is getting worse, i get really shar pains, bloating, have trouble eating and it is affecting every part of my life. i go through the process of having an endoscopy and a Ph test. I am told 9 weeks later on the phone as I live a long way from the surgeon that this operation would not be beneficial to me as my reflux is not bad enough. When i explain I am at a loss as to what to do the surgeon replies i dont know what else to tell you.
Shoud i get a second opinion or cop it sweet. i thought this time next year (12 month waiting period in Australia with pre existing condition) i would have a new life and would be able to move on with my life have a family have fun etc etc. I am really upset that this is not going to happen and i pretty much on the verge of a breakdown.

Hi, I feel so sorry for you . I know what you are going through as I have exactly the same. two and half years ago I was treated for H.Pylori. Since then I have had AR/GERD and have constant Gas/Bloating/and C/D with my bowels. Last year I was diagnosed with Hiatal Hernia, so I can relate to you entirely.
Were you given PPIs as that is the normal treatment. I was given them but did not take them in case I became addicted but I'm thinking I might just have to give them a try as every day is stomach trouble. I have tried all kinds of natural things and the thing I find most helpful is watching what I eat but if you are out for a meal or socialising this isn't always possible. Keep looking on this site as people do suggest things that they have tried. Good Luck, Solofelix.
