I started taking Prilosec 20mg twice a day a month ago, after a week or so it my heartburn got about 80-90 percent better. I got back from vacation a week ago , and it has gone down to about 60-70 percent better. Should I go back to my doctor? I was told to take this for 2 months. What to do....

hi, I was told to take Prilosec twice a day as well but wasn't given a time limit. but I was wondering, did this change happen since your vacay? Sometimes we eat really badly on vacay. I know if I don't watch what I eat mine still gets bad (but I get nausea instead of heartburn). Ya gotta stay away from tomato/sauce, onions, peppers, spicey stuff. Everytime I mess up here comes that nausea. (silent reflux) maybe that's it? vacay food?

well, i did a lot of hiking on the vacation, but i also didnt eat so well. had omelettes just about every morning, ice cream 3 times, drank about 10 pops, coffee every morning, burgers, and random other stuff... not the healthiest diet... the 2 weeks prior i had pretty much cut out pop, limited myself to 1 cup of coffee per day , and mixed in veggies and fruit.

yeah that may have done it, the extra caffeine junk food and stuff. Maybe give it a week once you're back on your regular diet and see if that does it. Or if it makes you feel better give the dr. a call. Cathy

I think I will wait a week, thanks for the advice Cathy! How long have you been taking it?
