My abdomen is so bloated it looks like I'm pregnant! I have large bowel stools...big enough to make me bleed at times, and excessive gas.. I had a colonoscopy a few months ago with no signs of hemmoroids. I was recently on a diet and successfully lost the 15 lbs. I wanted to loose which makes my stomach look even bigger. Could my distended stomach and large stools be caused by IBS? I have an appointment in January with a colorectal specialist to try to determine the cause.
Any input will be sincerely welcomed.

Are you having to strain and force your bowels to move after not moving them for more than 3 days ? the bleeding is probably caused by a small tear in your rectum from passing such large stool.
I have had chronic constipation problems all my life. When I haven't moved my bowels in more than 3-5 days, I expel lots of gas that smells like rotten eggs and I also get trapped gas that can't be expelled because I am so constipated. When I haven't gone for this long my bowel movements are very large, very dried out, and extremely painful to pass and sometimes I bleed.
IBS comes in many forms for many people but the msot common are IBS-A- alternating between constipation and diarrhea, IBS-C constipation is the main problem, IBS-D diarrhea is the main problem. The other symptoms of IBS are severe abdominal cramps, gas, bloating, pain sometimes starting in the lower right part of the abdomen spreading to the lower left part. For many people that is the start of the abdominal cramps and gas. Sometimes massaging your abdomen starting on the lower right side and going up and around following the pattern of your large intestine helps. Using a heating pad helps the cramps because it relaxes the muscles in your colon and the rectal and anal sphincter muscles. This helps sometimes when I am constipated to be able to move my bowels a little easier and with less pain. I hope this is of some help to you.
