How can you tell if you have a perianal cyst. Is that common with collagenous colitis? Could it just be a minor staph infection?

Perianal abcesses are common in colitis. A cyst is non infected normally, non-tender, not red or painful. If a lump or bump near the anus is red, painful, hot, tender, it is infected and must be treated. An abcess can form from a sinus tract from the rectum to the skin, which contains fecal bacteria (e. coli). An abcess should be lanced and drained to get the pus out, and if a sinus tract has formed that is treated surgically. If you have those symptoms, please see a Dr or go to urgent care ASAP.
