Hi, my husband received a prescription for Tramadol in summer and took him on Fridays mix alcohol. I found him 2 months ago in a stupor. The next morning, he admitted that were mixing alcohol and Tramadol. Recently, I found that he has a prescription from psychiatrist for Aderall use 10mg twice a day for his ADHD. My husband has in the past alcohol abuse history, attempted suicide, mental hospital, and severe depression. Could his psychiatrist prescribe Aderall to him with such a history of abuse? I think my husband has hidden this history and did not tell his Dr about it. What can I do in this case? Should I call his doctor and inform him about his history of alcohol in the past? Can I ask his psychiatrist to take this information not to mention my husband about my call? I'm afraid my husband is at risk of Aderall abuse.

Hello Gillixx and welcome....

You can alert both the doctor and psychiatrist,as long as they are willing to keep the conversation confidential.

I wouldn't want your husband finding out it was you and begin directing his anger and frustrations towards you.

Maybe don't go behind his back and maybe suggest he tells his doctor and psych. Talk to him about it. I have abused alcohol, Tramadol, and adderall. All can be very addicting when used in that context. However an addict can only stop abusing substances if they want to learn to deal with underlying trauma and accept life on life's terms.

Good luck.
