    Question left middle finger sensitivity

Off and on for a few months now I've noticed my left middle finger tip becomes incredibly sensitive to touch, the slightest bit of pressure hurts like I slammed my finger against a table. Sometimes the pad of the finger turns purple too.
Almost a year ago (it was the end of May), I slashed my left middle and ring finger tips while using a utility blade; due to the fact I was on T3s, I felt no pain and didn't even treat the injury until the blood made my fingers stick together. I never got stitches (I probably should have) and just wrapped the two fingers in gauze until the cuts were healed enough for band-aids.
Could my middle finger tip sensitivity be caused by the scar my stupidity left behind? If so, is there anything I can do to help with the sensitivity? I work in a bakery so pressure on the finger is not something I can avoid. What would cause the sensitivity in the first place and why isn't it constant?

I'm no expert, but you might have complex regional pain syndrome or reflex sympathetic dystrophy. It can be serious, so see your doctor as early treatment is important. In any case, it sounds like you have some kind of nerve damage. Best of luck.

My finger doesn't swell when the pain comes but I'll look more into it just in case
