Numbness, pain in hands while asleep.

Looking for any answers for my wife's hand issues.
She is experiencing numbness and extreme pain in both of her hands when
she is sleeping. Carpal tunnel is the only thing I can think that may cause this. She used to do a lot of data entry tasks. She does wear compression gloves at night, they provide little or no help.

Nerves can be compressed in a few different areas. Carpal tunnel is one. My recent issue with numbness was a trapped nerve nearer to my neck/shoulder. My hand went numb when I raised my arm over my head. Easily resolved by manual physical therapy! I highly recommend finding a good manual PT - my doctor's advice was if PT didn't help, she could order a nerve conduction study to try to find out where the problem was coming from.

    Best wishes!

called thoracic outlook syndrome I believe. A really knowledgeable chiropractor will be able to treat also

also, get an over the counter hand splint with rigid inserts so she can't bend her wrist at night can work too.

    Good luck

I have had carpal tunnel in right hand for about 15 years and had an EMG test that showed I had a really bad case of carpal tunnel the hand surgeon gave me the cortisone shot and numbed it up good ..it stayed that way for about 5 hrs but after it wore off.. the carpal tunnel symptoms numbness burning like it was on fire..are all gone I can't believe it ..and why didn't any of the other hand doctors I went to ever want to do the shot ..that was three weeks ago and it still my hand is still like new..I'm so happy ..I am supposed to have surgery August 5th bu I called and asked I'd we could make it the last of sept..because now I can go kayaking swimming and paddle boarding for the rest of the summer..make sure you go to a hand surgeon because they know all about your hand..
