    ongoing right wrist problem.

since 2012 i have had a few operations on my right arm and wrist. But since March this year my right wrist has been swollen and really painful. Ive had countless steroid injections in it.

I saw another dr a few months ago and i said to him that the consultant who did one of my wrist ops 2 years ago said he didn't want to do the last resort which is wrist fusion and the dr said that could happen.

Anyway I've changed drs cos of where i work I'm more there then at home and saw another dr and he referred me to a wrist specialist but by the end of the week I've had the date to see a consultant.

Im kinda hoping he says lets do the fusion op. its constantly swollen and hurts to the point where i can't put it on anything cos of where its hurting.

Ive taken naproxen but it doesn't touch it. I'm getting really fed up with it now, sometimes it hurts when i make a fist. I'm still working as cant afford to have time of sick.

Has anyone had it done? Would be great if you could get back to me.

    Re: ongoing right wrist problem.

Just ran across this post. I have had 4 surgeries on my left wrist. The last was in 2013. I had a bone that lost blood flow so 1st surgery was a bone graft. Took care of problem for a while. 2nd surgery took some bones out. Helped for a while. 3rd surgery was a fusion with implant. Had no problems other than tenderness on top of hand where there wasn't much cushion between implant and surface of hand. In 2013 had the implant removed since the bone was fused by then. I haven't had any problems since then. The only problem with a fusion is you can't bend the wrist so you have to learn new ways to do things.

    Re: ongoing right wrist problem.

i had my right wrist fused 20 yrs ago was op number 4
best thing i ever did , i asked them to do it as op #3 but they thought they could fix it
anyway it started playing up again 3 yrs ago and turns out the joint surface between the radius and ulnar had worn
the next proceedure was a MONBLOC ULNAR HEAD REPLACEMENT
13 months on and so far so good (if i over do things it hurts but settles down again )
