anyone know about frayed tendons in bicep?

My ortho doc says I have frayed tendons in my bicep where it meets the elbow. Supposed to get an MRI in a week, this has been going on 2 months now. Doc said it would heal by itself over 6-8 moths but it seems to be getting worse where I can't curl my arm up. Has anyone had this problem and if so what did you do?? Thanks for any info!

I just noticed that this post is a year old. If it is still active I'd like to comment. I had what my ortho guy termed a "burst bicep". I was holding a puppy in my right hand and extended my arm straight out to lower him into a puppy pen. When I tried to lower him I heard and felt a POP and had a surging pain in the area of my right bicep. Almost within the hour my arm from about my shoulder all the way past my elbow turned black and blue. It was gruesome to look at. After xrays and mri it was determined that it burst and was told that given some time it would NOT mend itself, although the swelling and black and blue bruising went away after about a month. I'm still experiencing pain but now in conjunction with a torn rotator cuff on my right side.

Did you ever resolve your problem and if so, how did you do it?
