Re: ulnar shortening osteotomy complication

Don't worry Eck, you must just be a slow healer like me, I am 17 weeks post op and my bone still hasn't fused together, I still have pain and am reminded of my attempts to get back to normal again with strong pain after each attempt, as my surgeon reminds me, patience and time. Hope things start to get better for you, I have found your posts and other people's posts that have had this op so helpful knowing that what I am feeling is maybe just normal...

Re: ulnar shortening osteotomy complication

I know everyone has different experience and pain levels BUT I need help. I had to have a external fixator on my right wrist March 08 from a falling backwards. My wrist looked a "S". My pain level wasn't bad after surgery. I was up and moving around the same day & went to Disney 2 weeks afterwards. Due to this my Unla is shorter then my radius. I have good movement but it hurts to lift, use a mouse/type after some time.

I have read everyones' comments but so unsure what to expect. I am scheduled to have this done on Sept 21st. I do work retail so I really dont have a "light duty". Some things I read, people said in above elbow cast, then lower cast, some for 1 week, others for weeks. Some also say out of work for a month then others for months.

Can anyone who has had this help?!?!?! And if anyone lives in NJ who did you go to?? Will I feel normal again...lifting, holding a phone, carry a baby, etc.??

Thank you
