Smile Young and new to Psoriatic arthritis diagnosis. Rx recommendation?

    Hi all

I've posted under the CF forums a couple times trying to figure out my stiffness and chronic fatigue and MANY other lists of symptoms and issues, and was recently diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis by my rheumatologist. I'm finally getting some answers after 7 years of wasted doctor appointments and other docs just prescribing antideps every time, which have done nothing basically, except for helping to make me sleep a little less.

Anyway, I requested and received 4 cortisone shots in my shoulders (RELIEF!!!) and am now looking for an affordable nsaid rx or other anti inflammatory to help with the inflammation every place else (hands back and feet are the other major pains). My psoriasis and arthritis aren't bad enough that I'd reach for humira or enbrel or any of the injectables, so I wanted to start small with a basic nsaid or similar. I've started on Mobic/Meloxicam a week ago but have not felt relief just yet. Any recommendations? Preferably something that is affordable or comes in generic as my insurance has NO brand coverage. Any help and feedback is appreciated!

I think some NSAIDS work well for some and not for others, so the response is very individual. I personally like naproxen, it is both OTC and by prescription at higher doses. It is taken twice a day with food, is generic, is cheap. OTC dose is 220mg twice daily, Rx dose is 500mg twice daily. You could try the OTC then ask Dr for a RX for higher dose if it helps. That should not be taken with Mobic however, so if the Mobic isn't helping much, I would talk to your Dr. about changing to something else. I hope you get relief, but do watch out for stomach issues (ulcer symptoms) when taking NSAIDS on a regular basis for too long. Since the Enbrel and Humira are subcu injections once a week, they aren't bad if you need to go to the next level.
