Arrow does anyone else have experience of these as part of Asperger's /Autism?

My son is 24. He has always been different to the other children we have had.
He is due, finally at the age of 24, to be assessed. He is iga deficient, finds it hard to keep weight on, has had chronic urticaria, severe mouth ulcers, underactive thyroid, dyslexia, dyspraxia (undiagnosed), social difficulties and was slow to talk as a child. He had many infections, febrile convulsions and failed to thrive as a newborn. He now has insomnia followed by sleep so heavy that he cannot be roused and his body does not seem to keep to a 24daylight / nightime timetable.
have you any experience of this combination of symptoms/ ilnesses and do you have any suggestions. I'm fedup of seeing every manner of consultant and noone taking an overview.

My mom has a lot of digestive problems. So yes, it's often seen with autism--my theory is that the same genes that cause autism are also involved with digestion.

Advise your son to look into food intolerances. If he's eating something he can't digest, he may be able to help a lot of those symptoms just by eliminating that substance. (Note that intolerances are different from allergies. A food intolerance is not being able to digest something; an allergy means your body thinks it is a pathogen and mounts an immune response to it.)

Sleep problems are common too. I'm an extremely light sleeper with an unpredictable sleep schedule. Melatonin helps me get to sleep on time, since my body is in a sort of permanent jet lag. I'll never be great at sleeping, though. Just one of those things you live with, I guess.
