How do you know when you're better?

I'm unable to get a follow up appointment with my dr after having a lot inflammation in my lungs. Everyone quit.

A week ago the Urgent Care prescribed: 10mg prednisone up to 2x a day, pseudoephedra, acid blocker.

I am better, still coughing quite a bit at times, but the fatigue is gone.

Would you continue with prednisone until 100%?

I have been doing light exercise at home and have an active job. How do you know when it is ok to do cardio exercise again? I'm very out of shape and overweight and cardio is a real exertion for me.

Hannah, I would check with your doctor. Did they say how long they wanted you on the predisone for? Usually its about a month- did they tell you to follow up with your doctor or to come back?

Re: How do you know when you're better?

Following Urgent Care I'm required to follow up in 5 days with a doctor, but the drs never last long enough at this clinic to see them even a 2nd time. I could only see a nurse but it is in 3 weeks at the earliest.

I think I've come down with a cold just to complicate things.

I was to take prednisone as needed with the expectation of getting medical care in 5 days.

I've decided to assume the coughing, sneezing and runny nose are just cold symptoms. It's confusing for me to be going through this problem the first time.

I guess I'll return to cardio when I'm firmly better.

Gosh I couldn't be in a grouchier, uglier mood.

    Dear Hannah,

No wonder that you feel grouchy!
I hope you feel much better, and soon!

Re: How do you know when you're better?

Thanks YaYa girl much appreciated. Yesterday was the first time my landlord noticed that my asthma was pretty bad! I stayed in bed all day, can't use my cpap machine. I'm moving in 5 days and I've done nothing.

I have a friend with severe asthma, she recently came down with bronchitis and very high blood pressure, then pneumonia. She had to leave her job and now has COPD and heart failure. It all happened over a one month period. She tells me all is well "I still look good and I don't act sick".
