Question any advice

i was wondering if there was any sort of beverage or foods you can eat or any home remedies that can ease some asthma problems. I have exercised induced asthma and I play sports. I'm using a machine before i play, but sometimes while I'm playing I sometimes get chest pains. I can breathe fine, its just that i have some pains in around my throat area and chest. any advice?

Despite what anybody says, removing milk products from your diet will not help, unless you have an allergy to milk.

An allergy to milk is not the same thing as lactose intolerance.

I found making sure to breathe through my nose and out through my mouth would help make sure my airways stayed moistened enough so that the spasming didn't happen as much. Remember too, that these spasms are partially normal, a little burning in the chest is common after extremely strenuous activity. It becomes a problem when the burning happens even during regular activity like jogging or a 100 yard sprint.

If the medication helps but not enough, perhaps consider taking a double dose (though if it's nebulized I'd be a little more iffy about that) or perhaps taking an anti-inflammatory in addition to your before-exercise medication.

Try not to push yourself too hard -- stamina is a tricky thing, it isn't a set number, it's kind of like gas mileage. You can go 60 km/h in first gear but you'll burn through your gas a lot quicker. If you take the speed-up slowly and make sure to stay conservative about quick changes in speed, if you are steadier about the way you handle the car, your gas mileage will be better. With your body if you run yourself ragged right off the bat you'll not be able to recover as quickly as if you pace yourself. Beta-2 agonist medication reverses bronchospasm; it doesn't make you immune to it though. If you manage to provoke a response from your body that out-does the bronchodilators that's an indication you're pushing yourself too hard.

And remember to wait 15 minutes after the dose before engaging in exercise.

I had asthma while I was growing up and I know it's not fun. The last attack that I can remember occured while vacationing on the ocean. Every morning I woke up and it just seemed as if the ocean air would take my breath away. To ease the wheezing and chest pains I would drink a cup of hot coffee or tea.
